Just two days before Christmas, Rose and Daniel’s beautiful wedding at Mythe offers real inspiration for a winter celebration.
The Perfect Venue
After visiting ten wedding venues in Leicestershire, from country houses to contemporary spaces, Rose and Daniel heard about Mythe Barn through a friend. ‘As soon as we approached Mythe down the long, rural driveway, we got butterflies’ smiles Rose. ‘The beautiful venue, outstanding customer service and signature chocolate brownies sealed the deal for us!’
Theme of the Day
Marrying so close to Christmas, this romantic winter wedding was certainly deserving of some bling! The happy couple chose a deep ‘masala’ wine colour alongside dusky pink and Champagne gold to create their elegant winter wonderland, complementing the neutral tones of Mythe Barn.
The lovely Christmas trees in The Grain Store provided a great backdrop to the decorations, to which Rose and Daniel added fresh flowers, blush pink sequin table runners, gold candlesticks and tea light holders and copper terrariums filler with roses… along with copper fairy lights of course!
All About the Dress
Rose fell in love with a spectacular mermaid style lace dress by Eddy K. ‘It incorporated all my favourite things’ she says. ‘Jo at Bradgate Brides made me feel like a princess and suggested a gorgeous veil with scatter crystals that matched the dress. She also helped me choose a beautiful hair piece.’ Rose completed the look with gold glitter heels from Debut at Debenhams.
As for the Groom and the Bridesmaids…
Daniel and his ushers wore brown tweed three-piece suits from Next with coordinating wine coloured ties and pocket squares. Rose’s six bridesmaids looked the part in glamorous deep red floor length dresses from ASOS. All the girls had a flash of sparkle from their gold shoes!
Roses are always a dreamy choice for a wedding flower and this wedding was no exception. Wine, blush and ivory roses were chosen by florists, The Garden Rose, to suit the colour scheme perfectly. The bride’s bouquet also included some pretty foliage while the bridesmaids carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet. The three flower girls held wands and baskets of petals to scatter as Rose entered The Oak Barn. Carrying the floral theme through, Daniel and his ushers also wore rose buttonholes and stunning bowls filled with roses and foliaged adorned Mythe Barn. ‘We also had a gorgeous floral heart hanging above the ceremony room door with mistletoe for cheeky kisses!’ smiles Rose.
The Wedding Breakfast
The winter season gave this happy couple the opportunity to serve deliciously warming welcome drinks and a sumptuous dinner. Winter Pimms greeted the guests alongside four hot canapés. For the wedding breakfast, guests were treated to a ham hock croquet followed by fillet steak with dauphinoise potatoes. For pudding… it just had to be chocolate brownie served with mango sauce and cider honeycomb.
Let Them Eat Cake!
A magnificent four tier round cake with gold leaf, blush pink and a delicate lace design also featured two layers of fresh roses. Tasting just as good as it looked, the tiers included a chocolate orange sponge and a gin and tonic sponge.
As day turned to evening, Mythe Barn’s famous wood fired pizzas were cooked in the outdoor pizza oven and guests took to the dance floor. The newlyweds danced to ‘Everything’ by Michael Bublé and a DJ kept the dancefloor full all evening. ‘We also had Dan’s band ‘First Order’ play a short set’ explains Rose. ‘They are a rock pop covers band with our usher, Josh, as front man!’ To take home, Rose and Daniel gave their guests jars of their traditional Christmas Eve hot chocolate with marshmallows.
Rose’s Top Tip
‘At the last minute, I decided to book a videographer and it was a surprise for Dan. The video they created is so incredible – it’s lovely to be able to relive the wedding.’
