Sophie and Simon chose a delicate spring colour palette for their April wedding at Mythe Barn.
The Perfect Venue
After looking at numerous wedding venues across Leicestershire, Sophie and Simon visited Mythe Barn on Valentine’s Day and fell in love! “I guess it’s true what they say… when you know, you know!” smiles Sophie. “All the staff were brilliant from the start and the venue was stunning. I couldn’t imagine us getting married anywhere else.”
The happy couple set their April wedding date and the planning commenced.
Design and Décor
With a delicate rose pink and mint green as the colour scheme for this spring wedding, Sophie and Simon decided on a rustic style to complement the venue. The creative bride made many of the decorations herself, from chalkboards to favours and even hand-punched confetti.
“The table plan was a labour of love,” she says, “and I think I still have blisters from Simon and I hand punching all the confetti. Never again!”
The beautiful bride wore a gown from the signature collection at Wed2B. “From the moment I tried it on, I loved it,” she smiles. “It was nothing like the dress I had in my head but when I tried it on, I felt amazing.”
Meanwhile, Simon looked the part in a suit from Christopher Scotney in Leicester and the bridesmaids were stunning in dresses from the Marks and Spencer bridal collection. “We chose short dresses to complement my dress,” explains Sophie. “They wore Pandora bangles and earrings which were a gift from me.”
All About Flowers
Glorious seasonal blooms included roses, ranunculus, eucalyptus, gypsophila and gerberas. The bride and her bridesmaids carried hand-tied bouquets while roses, gypsophila and lace made beautiful chair decorations for the ceremony. Large floral centrepieces complete with birdcages added to the rustic décor.
Wedding Day Details
Following their romantic ceremony in The Oak Barn, a drinks reception was held before the newlyweds and their guests moved in to dine. Chicken Ceasar salad was served to start, followed by fillet of beef and a trio of desserts. “All the food was fantastic!” smiles the bride.
Of course, no wedding is complete without a cake and Sophie and Simon delighted their guests with a pretty three-tiered cake with sugar roses and flowers. A personalised wooden topper featured the names of the happy couple with the wedding date written in a heart.
As the sun went down and the evening party started, the happy couple took to the dance floor for their first dance to ‘Amazed’ by Lonestar. “By no means was the dance choreographed,” laughs Sophie, “although we did practice it in the evenings in our kitchen!”
A barbecue proved to be the perfect evening dining option for this glorious, happy day.
“All of it! Actually – walking down the aisle after all the months spent planning. It was just great to be standing there and to become husband and wife.”
