From a snowy proposal on the Swiss ski slopes to a seaside themed wedding, Tanya and Aaron’s wedding journey culminated in their ‘I do’ moment on Easter Monday at Mythe Barn.
‘It wasn’t what I had in mind but I decided to try it on and loved it’
Tanya wore a dress by Sincerity Bridal, featuring lace and bead detail. ‘It wasn’t what I had in mind but I decided to try it on and loved it’ says Tanya. ‘I didn’t want to detract from the detail on the dress by wearing a veil so chose a pretty hair slide instead, and lace peep-toe shoes from Next’. The happy couple love the beach and wanted to incorporate a beach theme into the day. With that in mind, hues of yellow were a perfect choice and dresses from Untold, House of Fraser in a shade of lemon were chosen for the two adult bridesmaids.
For the groom, Aaron decided to wear a bespoke three-piece suit by Clements & Church in blue-check, complemented by his best man and ushers who also wore blue slim-fitting suits, with yellow ties to tie in with the bridesmaid dresses.
‘We bought ten striped deck chairs for guests to sit on in the courtyard!’
Bringing the seaside theme into the venue, tables were named after favourite beaches, place names were written on pebbles and favours were pieces of ‘Just Married’ rock in yellow-striped bags. Votives adorned with yellow ribbon were placed around the venue, and the ’guest book’ was a real talking point – a surfboard upon which guests were invited to write a message! ‘We also bought ten striped deck chairs for guests to sit on in the courtyard!’ says Tanya.

Flowers featured in the form of a rose bouquet for Tanya and posies for her bridesmaids, and the beach theme continued with the cake. ‘My bridesmaid Michelle made cupcakes that looked like ice cream with flakes, and our close friend Jen made a fantastic ‘campervan’ wedding cake’ explains Tanya.
With Mythe Barn’s in-house caterers Galloping Gourmet at the helm, dining was a treat. Guests were welcomed with Sea Breeze cocktails and mini fish and chips to suit the beach theme. For the wedding breakfast, lobster and prawn tartlet was followed by lamb and dauphinoise potatoes, with gorgeous chocolate brownies for pudding. Delicious!
‘We loved that it would be exclusively ours’
‘We knew Mythe Barn was our dream wedding venue, even though we first visited the site part way through the renovations!’ says Tanya. ‘‘The countryside views, wooden beams, huge windows and open space were breathtaking features, and we loved that it would be exclusively ours. We made absolutely the right choice.’
‘We would take more time out to spend with each other’
A perfect day, from start to finish, but would the newlyweds have done anything differently? ‘If we could do it all over again, we would take more time out to spend with each other’ says Tanya. ‘Your day goes so quickly, sometimes you need to take a step back to appreciate it!’
