A Beautiful Pastel Summer Wedding

Setting their sights on a summer celebration, Jodie and James planned their special day around beautiful food and exceptional service.
On bended knee with the couple’s two children beside him, James’s proposal on Jodie’s birthday marked the beginning of this romantic celebration. Searching for the perfect wedding venue, Jodie and James wanted a rustic, country vibe that would be easily accessible for their family and friends.
As they pulled on to the driveway to Mythe Barn, they fell in love with the setting, the surrounding countryside and the characterful barn.
“I remember a pheasant appearing to race at the side of our car. It really made me smile!” says Jodie.
Alongside its appearance, the happy couple loved the flow of the venue, enabling guests to wander between each space with the stunning countryside views around them.
“It just has that wow factor without being over the top. The guest rooms are beautifully decorated and it’s difficult to describe the wedding preparation space and honeymoon suite to give it the justice it deserves!”
“I felt so special and fortunate to be in those rooms. Everything had been thought of.”
A pastel colour scheme set this idyllic scene, with hues of blush pinks and purples looking stunning against the rustic wood of Mythe Barn. Many of the decorations were made by family, including rustic wooden signage created by James’s mother.
In The Oak Barn, a floral arch in blush pink stood in front of the windows and white petals and candles lined the aisle. Champagne-coloured linen adorned the tables in the Grain Store and the table centres featured arrangements of gypsophila and eucalyptus on rustic log slices. Making the most of the stunning flowers, the floral arch was also moved into the Grain Store to sit behind the top table.
Jodie looked stunning in a classic gown by Ronald Joyce.
“My dress felt timeless – a vintage feel in modern day. It incorporated every detail, from lace to diamante, and the skirt kicked out at the back to form a wide, rounded train.”
Letting the dress speak for itself, she accessorised with delicate diamond drop earrings, a diamond heart necklace and pretty bracelet. Finally, the beautiful bride chose white silk kitten heels.
“They felt like slippers. I wish I could keep wearing them!”
The groom, groomsmen and fathers all wore deep blue suits from Sawyers & Hendricks, completing the look with blush pink ties to co-ordinate with the colour scheme of the day. James’s gift from Jodie was an Oris watch with deep blue face – the perfect accessory.
Finally, Jodie’s bridesmaids wore elegant blush pink dresses from Vera Wang, with silk belts.
Following their ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the sunny Courtyard.
“It was such a beautiful day and we had a soloist out there too.”
Moving inside to dine, salmon pastrami was served to start, followed by fillet of beef and, for pudding, triple chocolate brownie.
As day turned to evening, a DJ filled the dancefloor and photo booth with fun props provided some great entertainment. Wood-fired pizza was cooked in the outdoor kitchen, and a rustic beer barrel and summer Mojito cocktail station proved popular.
“We are forever grateful to the Events Team for enabling us to have a day we could only have dreamed of. We felt so special on the day from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.”
“We were provided with a complimentary popcorn machine which the children were so happy about. James also gave me a Tiffany necklace on the day which was a lovely surprise and is a piece of jewellery I will keep forever. For us, the ceremony was the stand-out moment, it was such a happy time and the room felt full of love.”
