There are few things romantic than a Christmas proposal, with visions of the groom getting down on one knee beside the Christmas tree. Following their Christmas engagement, Hannah and Rob booked their summer wedding three years in advance and could relax in the knowledge that they had plenty of time to plan their special day.
‘It had only just arrived in the shop so I was the first person to try it on’
When that May day arrived, Hannah walked down the aisle in a stunning lace dress, ‘Cassidy’ by Maggie Sottero. ‘It had only just arrived in the shop so I was the first person to try it on’ explains Hannah. ‘I knew it was perfect straight away – lace with sparkle!’ Hannah accessorised with her grandmother’s earrings, and a veil with tiny crystals hanging from it. Rob, his best man and ushers wore slim-fitting suits from Next as did Hannah’s younger brother who took the role of ‘bridesman’ for the day.
‘My flowers were one of my favourite elements of the day’
Inspired by flowers seen in a wedding magazine, Hannah settled on a pink colour scheme. ‘My flowers were one of my favourite elements of the day’ she says. Created by local florist, Sandra Thomas, the beautiful blooms included pink peonies and dahlias, lime green hydrangeas and cream roses – delicate hues to complement Hannah’s exquisite lace dress. Continuing the lace theme, invitations were sent on cream card with lace effect and pink interior, and the wedding cake was pale pink with lace design and crystal embellishment. Introducing a charitable element to the day, favours from Cancer Research were given in the form of sparkly pins for the ladies and blue pins for the male guests.
‘It was the only venue we visited, and we chose it straight away.’
Having found Mythe Barn online, Hannah and Rob knew it was their dream venue. ‘It was the only venue we visited, and we chose it straight away’ she says. ‘We married in a church nearby and then came to Mythe Barn for our wedding breakfast and evening celebration. I don’t think I stopped smiling all day!’
‘The food was incredible. In fact, the whole day was perfect.’
As for the wedding breakfast, Galloping Gourmet treated the taste buds, as always. Soup was served to start, followed by roast beef, with vanilla cheesecake and raspberry coulis for pudding. ‘The food was incredible,’ says Hannah. ‘In fact, the whole day was perfect’.
‘There is nothing to be nervous about – you are walking down the aisle to be with the person you love.’
And, so from a Christmas proposal to a Mythe Barn summer wedding, and a paradise honeymoon in Halkidiki, for this happy couple the wedding planning seemed to be a breeze. Hannah’s advice to other brides is to enjoy every moment and stay calm. ‘I think I was the most chilled out bride on the planet’ she laughs. ‘There is nothing to be nervous about – you are walking down the aisle to be with the person you love. My mum helped with the planning and we planned the wedding that we wanted. We had the best day ever.’
