Oh, how we love a winter wedding! We just can’t wait to dive in to those opulent colour schemes, delicious winter menus and seasonal delights from mistletoe to Christmas trees. Follow these top tips to plan your seasonal celebration.
We never quite know what the British weather has in store but, if you’re marrying in winter, you should certainly prepare to be indoors. Choose a venue that offers cosy indoor spaces. While the barns at Mythe Barn are flooded with natural light, they are also warm and inviting. And, you can gaze across the beautiful countryside views without needing to step outside. The barns flow beautifully in to each other, with your ceremony in The Oak Barn, welcome drinks in The Cart Barn and your wedding breakfast in The Grain Store.
Winter weddings lend themselves to a host of beautiful colour schemes and, with Mythe Barn a neutral canvas, you’re free to introduce your favourite. You might decide to stick with the traditional festive combination of red, green and gold, or to embrace all that is white and silver and create a winter wonderland. Navy is bang on trend and works beautifully with bush pink and gold, or you could select pretty pastels and add a little warmth with some sparkle.
Bring the outside in with beautiful winter blooms alongside foliage, pine cones and berries. You might even extend these natural decorations to create pretty favours, from glitter-covered pine cones to sprigs of mistletoe. Tree stumps, twigs and chopped logs also bring that rustic, winter style in to a barn wedding venue. Wreaths make a lovely addition to your floral decorations and, of course, you might like the idea of a Christmas tree adorned with baubles.
Our expert on-site catering will also be delighted to discuss seasonal food options with you, from delicious warm canapés to cosy winter menus, bespoke cocktails and even boozy hot chocolate stations.
As with all seasons, it’s often the smaller details that make all the difference. Clever lighting is key at this time of year, with pretty fairy lights and candles setting a romantic scene. You might give sparklers as favours – a perfect way to end your evening as you step outside in to the courtyard.
Add personalised touches where possible, perhaps giving each guest a gift ‘from Santa’ instead of a traditional favour. If you think there’s a chance of heading outside for that ‘sparkler’ moment, provide shawls for your guests and perhaps some hot mince pies or mulled wine. We’re also partial to a gingerbread cookie at this time of year!
If you have yet to visit Mythe Barn, we would love to show you everything this beautiful venue has to offer throughout the year. It is truly a venue for all seasons. Give our friendly events team a call on 01827 217009 or contact us online.
