An Autumnal Scene at Mythe Barn

With the colourful season of autumn in the air, Mythe Barn was a beautiful choice for Rochelle and Joshua’s bohemian style wedding.

The Perfect Venue

Rochelle and Joshua had many reasons for choosing Mythe Barn.

“We loved that the converted barn was so light and airy, bringing the countryside in without it feeling very separate.” explains Rochelle. “We also chose it because of the onsite accommodation and all the wonderful space for children.”

Theme of the Day

An October wedding date set the scene perfectly for an autumnal celebration with an ethereal, bohemian feel. The happy couple had a religious ceremony at St Michael and All Angel’s church in Appleby Magna, so returned to Mythe Barn for their welcome drinks and wedding breakfast.

With a colour scheme including warm hues of gold, rose gold and rustic tones, each table featured a floral centerpiece surrounded by tea lights with gold leaf pumpkins. In keeping with the natural theme, the top table was adorned with a runner made from moss and a mixture of trinkets and bottles with tea lights.

Pheasant feathers were also added in to the mix, decorating the coffee table along with foliage and handmade acorns in gold leaf and glitter.

“We wanted to create a relaxed, twilight, magical scene with the use of candles and fairy lights,” explains Rochelle. “We also used quotes from favourite fairy tales like Peter Pan and believing in magic.”

All About the Dress

Rochelle chose a beautiful gown by designer Lusan Mandongus.

“I loved the intricate four layers of lace, as well as the unforgettable cathedral train”, she smiles! “We also chose it because of the onsite accommodation and all the wonderful space for children”.

Rochelle accessorised with family jewellery, and a head piece and veil by Hermione Harbutt. Her elegant shoes with gold leaf design were from Harriet Wilde.

As for the Groom and the Bridesmaids…

Joshua wore a petrol blue suit by Paul Smith. As for Rochelle’s seven bridesmaids… they wore couture dresses by JLM in a coral underlay with a peony tulle netting over the top, a perfect choice for the boho style. A rose gold leaf stem made a lovely hair accessory for each bridesmaid.

Beautiful Blooms

The bridal bouquet was a loosely tied arrangement of wild grasses, ferns chrysanthemums, roses and peonies – bang on trend with that ‘just-picked’ look. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions as their posies, while the flower girls carried large chrysanthemum flower wands with wild grasses. The same beautiful flowers were used in stunning arrangements in Mythe Barn.

Welcome to Mythe

Following their wedding ceremony, the happy couple and their guests arrived at Mythe Barn, greeted with peach and pomegranate Bellinis and elderflower sparklers! Delicious canapés included king prawn tempura and fried Somerset brie with red pepper sauce.

Moving on to the wedding breakfast, guests enjoyed a warm tartlet of lobster and king prawns followed by beef with potato dauphinoise. And for pudding, an exquisite trio of desserts including vanilla crème brûlée, treacle sponge and apple and blackberry compote.

“We chose the menu as we felt there was something for everyone”, explains Rochelle. “We have had so many comments from guests about how wonderful the food was, as well as the service at the table.”

Let them eat cake!

The elegant four-tiered cake was coated in white chocolate with a coral dip dye effect and a real flower arrangement. A rose gold runner and autumnal leaves decorated the cake table along with lanterns, fairy lights and tea lights. Family wedding photos also sat on the table to add a personal touch.

Evening Celebrations

As day turned to evening, Rochelle and Joshua celebrated with 200 guests! The newlyweds danced their first dance to ‘Songbird’ by Oasis and guests enjoyed a fire pit barbecue.
