Top 5 wedding trends for 2027 and beyond

Wedding trends come and go, but the very best ones stick around because they tap into something couples genuinely want: a day that feels entirely, unmistakably theirs. As we look ahead to 2027 and beyond, the themes shaping the UK wedding scene are exciting, creative and a perfect fit for everything Mythe Barn has to offer. Here are five trends to inspire you.

1. Making it ultra-personal

Gone are the days of the template wedding. Now, couples are embracing weddings that feel deeply personal and built around their own story, tastes and traditions. Think bespoke details, unexpected touches and guest experiences that feel truly considered.

Personalisation is at the heart of everything we do at Mythe Barn. Our food and drink offering is a brilliant example. Rather than offering a fixed package, we offer à la carte seasonal menus, each showcasing the freshest British produce. But every dish is flexible, so if you want to mix and match across seasons, include a family favourite or build something entirely your own, we’ll work with you to make it happen. The same goes for your ceremony, whether you’d like to exchange vows indoors in the beautiful Oak Barn or outside in the fresh Leicestershire air; the choice is yours, with no additional fees either way.

2. Barns are having their moment

If you’ve always dreamed of a barn wedding, you’re in good company. Barns are the fastest-growing venue type in the country, and it’s easy to see why. Barn venues offer something that’s genuinely hard to find elsewhere: that rare combination of rustic warmth, natural beauty and a sense of space that feels both relaxed and special.

We’ve been welcoming couples through our doors since 2012, making us one of the very first barn wedding venues in the area. With heritage dating back to 1220 and a working farm setting in the Leicestershire countryside, Mythe Barn has the kind of authentic character that simply can’t be replicated.

The exposed beams, the golden stone, and open grounds all come together to create a backdrop that’s naturally beautiful from every angle. We’ve also won or been a finalist for ‘Best Countryside Venue – East Midlands’ at The Wedding Industry Awards every year since opening, so you can book with real confidence.

3. Focus on sustainability

Eco-conscious choices are no longer a niche consideration; they’re one of the defining themes of UK weddings in 2026 and 2027. Couples are thinking carefully about everything, from the flowers and catering to the favours and stationery, and they’re actively seeking out venues that share their values.

Sustainability is something we genuinely care about at Mythe, not just a tick-box exercise. We hold a GOLD ECOsmart award, achieved by implementing over 50% of the sustainability initiatives recommended by Greengage Solutions. On the farm, we generate electricity through solar panels, keep bees on-site and have planted over 12,000 trees and a wildflower meadow. The results speak for themselves -buzzards, owls, woodpeckers and kingfishers all call Mythe Barn home. We also work closely with local suppliers who share our commitment to eco-conscious practices, from sourcing locally-grown ingredients to offering recycled and upcycled alternatives for wedding favours and styling.

4. Experiential dining

Couples are moving away from the traditional, formal sit-down dinner in favour of catering that’s an experience in itself, such as live cook stations, sharing feasts, grazing boards and relaxed cocktail-style receptions that get guests mingling from the moment they arrive.

This is where we really come into our own. Our outdoor kitchen is made for exactly this kind of celebration. For your wedding breakfast, our sharing boards bring a wonderfully relaxed, feasting atmosphere to the table. Enjoy seasonal starters followed by generous main boards, with everything placed at the centre for guests to enjoy together. Our Feast by Fire option takes things even further, with slow-grilled meats and seasonal sides cooked on a charcoal barbecue and served straight to the table.

As the evening unfolds, the fun continues. Your guests can enjoy wood-fired pizzas made fresh to order (they’ll love watching our chefs hand-roll the dough), street food cooked in woks and pans over market-style burners, fire-pit barbecue, charcuterie boards, or even a cheese-stack wedding cake for something a little different. And if you really want to raise the bar, our evening cocktail pop-up bars, from a rum bar and gin bar to a limoncello slush bar and a bespoke cocktail station, add a brilliant, celebratory energy to the night.

5. Florals that make a statement

Florals are going architectural in 2027. Think moss-lined walkways, sculptural arches, immersive botanical tablescapes and statement installations that transform a space into something truly extraordinary. It’s a trend that makes a real visual impact, and it works best in venues that give it room to breathe.

One of the things couples love most about Mythe Barn is that it is a beautiful blank canvas. The natural tones, the exposed timber, and the open, airy spaces mean that whatever you bring in will have the space and light to really shine. Your florist will have so much to work with here, inside and out.
